The piece "Take my Breath away" won an Academy (of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) Award for Best Original Song. British Heavy-Metal-Band Judas Priest were asked to make available their song "Reckless" on the Music, but said no, as this would have meant taking away the hymn off their collection 'turbo'. Top Gun's textbook, kerosene-pumped Recording is one of the outstanding successes in Pop Music. Propelled by the clout of its many hit single tracks (including Heaven In Your Eyes by Loverboy), the TOP GUN Soundtrack rapidly turned out to be a pop tunes marvel on its own, and still remains one of the best-selling movie soundtracks of all time. The newly updated edition contains new liner notes by David Wilde of Rolling Stone Magazine and photographs, and for the first time features bonus bonus tracks. Artist Jessica Simpson recorded "Take my Breath away" again in 04 and included it on the re-release of her compilation "In This Skin".
